How do I solve a whole crossword grid from a photo?
In the crossword helper, upload or take a photo of the grid (or start a blank grid), fix any squares it got wrong, paste the clues and press Start solving.
Step by step
- Open the crossword helper.
- Press Upload or take a photo, or choose a size and Start a blank grid.
- Check the grid against your photo. Tap any square to switch it between black and white, or change the rows and columns.
- Paste the clues: Across and Down on their own lines, then one clue per line with its number.
- Press Start solving. Use Show words that fit, Check this word and the Anagram helper when you are stuck.
- Your puzzle is kept in this browser: Carry on with your last puzzle takes you back to it.
Questions and fixes
The photo grid is wrong
Photos taken straight on, in good light, work best. The helper always lets you fix it: tap squares to change them, or start a blank grid of the right size.
Can it tell me if my answer is right?
It can check that a word is real and fits the crossing letters, but it doesn’t know the puzzle’s real answers.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The picture is read inside your browser and never sent anywhere.
