How do I find a crossword answer when I know some letters?
Type the letters you have into the crossword solver, with a question mark for each gap, or just choose the length. Adding the clue helps it spot anagrams and hidden words.
Step by step
- Open the crossword solver.
- In Letters you know, type the answer with ? for each missing letter, like ?A??E. No letters yet? Choose the length instead.
- Optional: type the clue. Put the lengths in brackets for answers of more than one word, like (4,5).
- Common words are listed first. As you solve crossing answers, add the new letters to shrink the list.

Does it understand the clue?
Not its meaning. It uses the letters in the clue to look for anagrams and hidden words, and the pattern does the rest.
