A.-
Remembering A
- It sounds like di-dah. Say it out loud as you listen, and learn the rhythm rather than counting dots and dashes.
- A has 2 signals: 1 dot and 1 dash. It takes 5 units of time to send, where a dot is one unit.
- A is roughly the 3rd most common letter in English. Morse code gives the shortest codes to the commonest letters, which is why A is quick to send.
- Swap every dot for a dash and every dash for a dot and you get N (-.). Learning opposite pairs together helps them stick.
- Read it backwards and you get N (-.).
- Add more signals to the end of A and you get J, L, P, R and W, so it helps to learn these letters after A.
