K-.-
Remembering K
- It sounds like dah-di-dah. Say it out loud as you listen, and learn the rhythm rather than counting dots and dashes.
- K has 3 signals: 1 dot and 2 dashes. It takes 9 units of time to send, where a dot is one unit.
- K is roughly the 22th most common letter in English. Morse code gives the shortest codes to the commonest letters, which is why rarer letters like K are longer.
- Swap every dot for a dash and every dash for a dot and you get R (.-.). Learning opposite pairs together helps them stick.
- Add more signals to the end of K and you get C and Y, so it helps to learn these letters after K.
