S...
Remembering S
- It sounds like di-di-dit. Say it out loud as you listen, and learn the rhythm rather than counting dots and dashes.
- S has 3 signals: 3 dots. It takes 5 units of time to send, where a dot is one unit.
- S is roughly the 7th most common letter in English. Morse code gives the shortest codes to the commonest letters, which is why S is quick to send.
- Swap every dot for a dash and every dash for a dot and you get O (---). Learning opposite pairs together helps them stick.
- Add more signals to the end of S and you get H and V, so it helps to learn these letters after S.
